Sharon Mills is the director of the Applied Social Research Unit (ASRU), Illinois State University, where she plans and manages evaluation, assessment, and planning studies focused primarily on workforce issues, education, and health and human services. She teaches survey research, evaluation (including outcomes measurement), and grant writing techniques and, from 1995 to 1998, was editor for Grant News, a former publication of grants and other assistance opportunities for rural communities (see back issues at the ASRU website).
Since 1995, Sharon has planned and presented at grant writing workshops with sponsors including the Illinois Rural Health Association, Rural Partners, the Township Officials of Illinois, the IFLOSS Coalition, the Shawnee Library System, the Illinois Agricultural Association, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and the Illinois Department of Public Health. Sharon earned an M.S. in industrial and organizational psychology from Illinois State University, Normal, and a B.A. in psychology and communication from Marian College in Indianapolis, Indiana.
