Larry D. Sanders
Pharmacy Manager
Clay County Hospital

Having been involved in hospital pharmacy practice since 1986, and as a pharmacy director at two larger southern Illinois hospitals since 1990, Larry assumed his duties as the chief pharmacist at Clay County Hospital, a 22-bed, county owned hospital in rural southern Illinois, in 2000.

The small rural practice setting allows Larry to practice the full array of clinical and administrative hospital pharmacist functions. Larry has been a practicing registered pharmacist since completing his bachelor of science in pharmacy degree from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. He owned and operated his own retail pharmacy for the first sixteen years of practice before switching his interest to hospital pharmacy which he has found to be more clinically and operationally challenging. He furthered his education by completing his masters in pharmacy administration training from the St Louis College of Pharmacy in 1996. Although his primary focus remains in hospital pharmacy, he continues to practice periodically in the retail pharmacy setting to maintain a diversified perspective of pharmacy practice.

Larry is a member of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists. He is a past member of the Centralia Grade School Board of Education, and the Health Care Foundation. He is active in his community by chairing various civic and regional functions such as the annual Centralia Balloonfest and Halloween Parade. Larry is a native of Centralia, Illinois where he and his wife continue to live. They have four daughters.
