Definition
of Terms
Household:
Includes
all the people who occupy a housing unit; whether it is a house, an
apartment, a mobile home, a group of rooms, or a single room intended
for separate occupancy. The count of households equals the count of
occupied housing units.
Persons
Per Household:
The number
of persons in households divided by the number of households (or householders).
Family:

and one or more other persons living in the same household who are
related to the householder by birth, marriage, or adoption. All persons
in a household who are related to the householder are regarded as
members of his or her family. For census tabulations, a household
can contain only one family. Not all households contain families since
a household may comprise a group of unrelated persons or one person
living alone.
Married-Couple
Family:
A family
in which the householder and his or her spouse are enumerated as members
of the same household.
Other
Family:
Either,
Male Householder, No Wife Present or Female Householder,
No Husband Present.
